Massive Selector’s own Marky has been busy working as Marketing Manager for the 28th Annual San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF), which showcases the best Asian and Asian American films from around the globe, running March 11-21, 2010 in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. This is the one event that we get really excited about because it not only brings the community together thru arts and culture, but it’s an event that’s uniquely San Francisco.

This year, we’re excited to tell you that SFIAAFF proudly presents a special focus on Filipino and Filipino American media – featuring a wide-ranging look at the past and future of Filipino media making, including a retrospective of legendary director Lino Brocka, the first Filipino filmmaker to show films at Cannes; up-and-coming filmmaker Raya Martin’s INDEPENDENCIA, which screened at Cannes this past year; an extraordinary documentary NINOY AQUINO & THE RISE OF PEOPLE POWER, which charts the tragic life of the influential Philippine senator and opposition leader; and looking to Filipino-American history, MANILATOWN IS IN THE HEART profiles another pioneering figure, the Bay Area poet and activist Al Robles, who passed away last year. For all the Filipino films, events, and features at SFIAAFF, please visit: FILIPINO FOCUS AT SFIAAFF 2010.
